Fulbright Scholarship: Personal Statement VS Study Objective

First of all I would like to thank you all for being supportive and responsive, which boosted me to write more. In the last few days after my first post about application guide I have received loads of queries regarding personal statement and study objective. So in this post I have jotted down few points about both essays which you can include.

In study plan you talk about
ü  Your current degree and situation
ü  Your major field
ü  The reason behind choosing this field
ü  How will you utilize the degree?
ü  What are your future goals?
ü  How are your goals aligned with this degree?
ü  How this degree from USA will help you achieve you goals?
ü  How your degree will help your country?
ü  How will you serve your country after this degree?
ü  What is that service which you can offer that the same person studying from Pakistan cannot?
ü  Basically how your degree from USA will help you?

In personal Statement
ü  They want to know who you are as a person
ü  What is your family background?
ü  What is your family environment?
ü  What challenges have you faced in your life?
ü  How these challenges have molded you in a better person?
ü  What you did to handle those difficult situations?
ü  What have you learned from your previous education?
ü  What other qualities you have apart from academia?
ü  What other skills have you developed while doing any internship, project, organizing an event, socializing with people, handling the community, leading any project, doing some research, fighting back any disease, or standing up for yourself.
ü  Any event in your life that changed your perspective
ü  What you want to be in life and how going to US will help you being a better person

These are just the points, the sequence may change depending on how you write your essays. It was just to differentiate between the two. I hope that it clarified many ambiguities.

Keep me in your prayers.
